Eye of Newt are Mel Daniels, Rowan Taylor and Sandra McCracken.

An exciting and ambitious artist collective, Eye of Newt create bold theatrical artwork suitable for touring festivals, street theatre, or corporate events.

Your audience will love our inclusive and playful performances – sometimes they’ll be swept along with the silliness, sometimes moved by the warmth and gentle storytelling. Either way, they’ll be creating magical memories and smiling.

You’ll be reassured to hear that our shows have been designed or adapted with social-distancing in mind, to protect both audiences and performers.

We are a small team of three, self-sufficient and happy to have limited contact with venue staff. Based in West Yorkshire, we can easily cover a large proportion of the North of England without requiring an overnight stay.

Contact us today, because we still have some dates available for 2021 and can help make your event extraordinary

How it all began…

Our first commission was back in 2018, when we created Zazelle and the Great Farini, our Bear/Cannon/Flying Chicken act. The brief from Handmade Parade was to make and perform a circus-themed parade piece for Lamplighter Festival in Todmorden.

We enjoyed working together and realised that the three of us have a fantastic balance of skills and bring out the best in each other’s work. Since that first commission, we’ve gone from strength to strength, delivering high quality interactive theatre arts for a range of clients – including Stellar Projects, Spot On Lancashire and Oldham Window Wonderland.

Until recently, our work was firmly outdoor-arts focussed. Like many arts companies, we’ve done a fair bit of pivoting in the last year. We’ve undertaken training in new areas, developed our skills and continued to produce beautiful and engaging art works. Our new suitcase theatre show delighted online audiences at Nightfall Festival 2020.

We’re currently working on our newest show, The Cabinet of Curiosity. It’s our most ambitious work yet and will debut in Summer 2021. We’re accepting bookings now and would love to hear from you if you have a family audience who would enjoy a play-filled narrative and some interactive silliness.

Who knows where 2021 will lead? We’re certain that it will be challenging and unpredictable, but determined that we’ll continue to shine and deliver extraordinary experiences for audiences. After all, thinking creatively and making beautiful surprises in unlikely circumstances is very much our thing.
